General Rules
for EFFA Flycasting Instructor Certifications
* For easier reading „he“ is used for both genders.
Location for exams
- Basic exams are possible at any location(except private business events) where the necessary amount of examiners are present.
- Master exams are only possible at Shows/Fairs open to public, the Annual EFFA Meeting or any special EFFA exam meeting. The possibility of public access is a necessity.
- All exams have to be announced on the website well before the event.
Members of the testing body
- The members of the EFFA testing body are the members of the Flycasting Department. ADV Board Members and Master Instructors who are accepted as examiners by the Flycasting Department can be nominated as additional examiners.
- For Basic Exams two examiners from two different countries are required.
- For Master Exams three examiners from at last two different countries are required.
Enrolment and test requirements
- If the online enrolement form is sent to EFFA and the amount of EUR 100.- is transferred three weeks prior to the exam(bank transfer costs are to be paid by the candidate) to the EFFA account the candidate's application for the exam is accepted.
- The maximum amount of candidates per exam is eight(8). At annual meetings the amount of candidates accepted may be slightly higher (dependent on the amount of available examiners). The candidates' registrations are handled according to the first-come-first-serve-principle.
- If a candidate has correctly registered for an exam but the limit of candidates is already exceeded he cannot be accepted for that exam but will be asked to go for the next exam. The money will meanwhile be kept as a deposit or given back on demand.
- No direct payment at the fair is possible (except justified reason)! The candidate has to pay the bank transfer costs.
- Candidates who are late for an exam without any prior announcement or special reason have no guarantee that they can attend the exam. The examiners decide whether they can participate or have to try at another exam.
- If a candidate does not show up at an exam but has already paid the certification fee, he looses the money except there is a acceptable reason for his absence.
- If a candidate is not correctly dressed(see test requirements), he is not allowed to take part in the exam.
- If a candidate criticizes the examiners decisions he will not be allowed to go on with the exam.
- The candidate's equipment has to match with the demands written down in the test. The equipment will be controlled prior to the test.
- It is not allowed to change the equipment except part of it gets damaged during the test(break of rod or line).
- Candidates may share the equipment.
Testing proceedure
- Before he finally starts to do the required cast of part 1(casting limits) the candidate has the right to do one(1) training cast for every single casting limit. The training cast(no matter if it was positive or not) does not count for the exam.
- For every single casting limit the candidate has got three attempts except the examiners decide anything different. (max. 5)
- If a candidate has got more than one mistake either in part 1 or in part 2 of the exam he cannot go on. His exam is terminated.
- If a candidate has not got more than one mistake in part 1 and part 2 he can go on with part 3(didactics). After having finished part 3 without a mistake he has the possibility to repeat the missed casts of part 1 or 2. If he succeeds he can go on with the theory.
- If he does not succeed but has only got one mistake at the end of the practical exam(part 1-3) he has to try again at one of the next exams. At this repetition exam he only has to repeat the casts of the subsections(b1, b2, b3 or b4) in which he had the mistake.(e. g. He missed the backhanded switch cast in the test>> at the next exam he has to repeat b2. If he succeeds he can go on with the theory. If he does not master it he has to repeat the whole test again!
- Master candidates have to show Master-like performance and therefore they always have to repeat the whole test and not just the single blocks.
- Candidates going for the Basic Instructor or Master Instructor exam can only try twice in the same calendar year.
- A Master candidate needs the recommendation of a Master to be allowed to attend an exam.
- The certification fee for Basic or Master exams is EUR 100.- no matter if it is the first attempt or a repetition of an exam.
