EFFA instructor exams in Altstätten
On the 19th of September, 2015 scores of candidates, assistants and examiners met in the outdoor swimming arena in Altstätten in order to carry out, help with or visit the last EFFA flycasting instructor exams of the year.
Six candidates from Austria, Germany and Italy lined up to master the basic instructor exam with the single hand rod. The EFFA master instructors Giacomo Catellani, Wolfgang Fabisch, Günter Feuerstein and Valerio Santagostino were the examiners and Claus Elmenreich, Peter Henggeler and Fredi Illien acted as additional assistance examiners. Despite of the strong wind the day before, the conditions were just perfect on the exam day. In calm, sunny autumn weather the candidates were highly motivated to give their best. First the tackle was checked and right after that the practical part of the exam started. Once more it turned out that even with perfect weather conditions it is really difficult to master the demands. Three candidates were left after the first part and were allowed to move on with the didactic and theoretical part. They were well prepared, all questions and teaching related contents were answered correctly and as a result they finally obtained the sought after instructor certificates. Beside some spectators almost the whole Managing Board including the new president Daniele Di Fronzo watched the exam and congratulated the new instructors Marco Magliola, Marco Pedol and Luca Prono (all from IT). They praised the nice area, the highly professional exam and the obliging examiner's team and promised to represent the EFFA in future worthily.
In the evening they celebrated extensively and the next day the new instructors enjoyed some hours of fishing for grayling and trout in the Werdenberger Binnenkanal together with the examiners and some Managing Board members. It turned out that fly casting instructors can not only cast but also fish absolutely well.
Congratulations to the new instructors and many thanks to all examiners, assistants and helpers for the successful weekend.
