EFFA Guide Programme
The unique programme
Good things always take their time. The request for certified guides was said to be very high in the North so we started to work on that subject about three years ago. Now the EFFA Guide Programme is finished and the very first course is waiting for participants. Maybe you want to be among the first certified guides?
As you have probably already got to know the EFFA Guide Programme is done in co-operation with Hedmark University College in Elverum. This means that those who pass it will not only get an EFFA Guide Certificate but also a University diploma. EFFA is the only international fly fishing association who can offer such an opportunity. Besides the diploma and patches the EFFA certified guides can also benefit from the EFFA sponsoring programme. So they will get the same tackle discounts as our flycasting instructors. The EFFA Guide Programme covers all that is neccessary to provide a client with a good service in order to make them satisfied.
EFFA guides have to know:
- how to manage a group at a river or still water
- how to tie certain fly patterns and use fly tying materials correctly
- how to cast to feeding fish (medium to higher level casting requirements)
- where to find fish in a river (reading waters)
- what the fish feed on and why (food chain)
- how to set up a camp
- how to work with GPS equipment
- how to save people who have an accident at the water (water rescue course)
- ...,
During the 4 days course the participants will get to know everything that is needed to become a successful guide. At the end the participants show their skills in a little test.
