First EFFA instructor frum Bulgaria certified!
A. Böhringer, E.Dorrer, P. Henggeler, G. Feuerstein, Stanislav Mankov(new instructor), H. Spinnler,W. Fabisch. F. Illien
The weather seems to be really extreme this year. Was it perhaps the hottest Pentecost weekend for decades in The Netherlands when we had our last exam so it was according to press the coldest October weekend in Hohenems/Austria for the last 40 years when five candidates tried to pass the EFFA basic exam. The EFFA Master instructors W. Fabisch, G. Feuerstein and H. Spinnler were assisted by some EFFA instructors who are preparing for the master test and got the possibility to learn how to test by assisting the main examiners.
The exams started at around half past 11, so the air warmed up a bit in the meantime. It was not as perfect and nice as in Holland but the conditions were ok for an exam. This was underlined by Stanislav Mankov who had no problems to pass the exam. The other candidates showed the one or other good cast and one of them was also very close to succeed but did not manage to pass the methodical part which is the really difficult part of the EFFA exam. So he will pick up some students to do some practical work with them and will give it a try the other day. Only Stanislav Mankov showed an excellent performance and finally became the first EFFA flycasting instructor from Bulgaria passing. Well done Stanislav! I am very proud he said after this long, cold and at the end also wet day. This exam proofed once again that there is no bad weather for a well prepared candidate. It is the will to pass combined with perfect preparation which is the key to a successful exam.
EFFA exams at the EFFA Meeting at Lake Oostvoorne
H. Spinnler, J. Verstraten, G. Feuerstein, Nenad Bugarcic, S. Fuchs, B. de Bruin and R. Verbeek
Under very unusual conditions the exams in Holland took place this year at the Pentecost Weekend in May. EFFA-NL invited all members for the Annual EFFA meeting at Lake Oostvorne and it seemed that they also invited St. Peter. The sun was shining the whole weekend and it was really hot. Suncream was a must. However this weather was perfect for the exams which were also organized by the Dutch team. There was even no wind, so the conditions were perfect. There were six candidates who tried to pass the exam. Some results were quite close but finally only one of the candidates succeeded. Nenad Bugarcic from Serbia showed a very good exam and passed the difficult test without any problems. Congratulations Nenad, welcome in the EFFA instructor team!
First EFFA instructor from France certified!
6 candidates showed up early in the morning in the Rheinauen in Hohenems on Oct. 29, 2011 to go for the EFFA instructor exam. They were well prepared but the exam is known to be difficult. The examiners Göran Andersson(SWE), Günter Feuerstein(AT), Hans Spinnler(CH) and Giacomo Catellani(IT) watched the candidates very carefully and checked their didactical and theoretical knowledge on the subject. There were only two candidates left after the practical casting part of the exam and another one failed in the didactics. At the end after having tested more or less the whole day one of them passed successfully. Thibaut Giband(FRA) was very happy to receive the instructor certificate and badge and thereby become the first EFFA instructor from France. Congratulations Thibaut! Read more about the event here
Four new instructors certified in Hohenems
A nice day in good atmosphere with quite good amount of people showing up to brushup their fly casting abilities together with a good number of EFFA instructors at site, that is how the 2. Rheintaler Fliegenfischertag can be described in a few words. Besides the fly casting workshops and fly tying demo there were also exams taken there.
The six candidates were well prepared and the conditions at site were more than perfect for such an event. The Masters G. Catellani, W. Fabisch, G. Feuerstein, H. Spinnler and V. Santagostino could finally congratulate four new basic instructors for their positive exams. Armin Kundolf and Albert Bußjäger from Germany as well as Gianfranco Lenzi from Italy and Thomas Diener from Switzerland received their instructor certificates and smiled for the camera. The event will take place again next year at about the same time (Oct. 22, 2011).
First Double Hand Instructors certified in St. Petersburg/ Russia
Ten candidates, three of them for the first EFFA double hand exam, tried to pass the instructor certification test at the Fly Fishing Meeting in St. Petersburg. The exams were hold on two days as it would have been impossible to handle this amount of candidates on one day. So on Oct. 1, the double hand exams took place and the next day the basic exams were taken. The candidates were all well prepared and showed good results during the exams. However the EFFA tests are known to be difficult, so at the end there were "only four" who passed. Ivan Ermakov and Vladimir Tyurin passed the basic exam and Wasiliy Olishannikov and Dmitri Borovkov passed the double hand exam and became the first EFFA Certified Double Hand Instructors (LL). Dmitri from Tallinn is also our first instructor from Estonia. See below a picture of the Russian instructors who were present at the event and Dmitri together with the examiners G. Feuerstein, H. Spinnler and R. Rutkis. A short flashback of the event will follow as soon as the professional pictures from the St. Petersburg event will arrive.
Peter Henggeler mastered the Basic exam in Laimnau(DE)
A giant pool, a deep blue sky and no wind provided best conditions for the four candidates who tried to pass the exam in Laimnau, Germany. Despite the fact that the candidates were well prepared only one of them successfully passed the basic exam after several hours of testing. Peter Henggeler from Switzerland was the happy new instructor to be handed out the EFFA certificate and patch. He will perfectly fit into our great instructor team.
Richard Verbeek new EFFA Master Instructor!
Good and constant training leads to the wanted results. This could be proved once again by Richard Verbeek. Richard is the first Master that could be successfully certified in 2010. He was examined in the Netherlands by Sepp Fuchs, Bas de Bruin and Jupp Verstraten. Richard is very happy to have passed this difficult certification. He is the forth master from The Netherlands so far.
The Dutch Fly Fair
Once again the guys from the Netherland pulled it off. The Duch Flyfair was a great success thanks to the hard working staff and the new location at Drontermeerdijk. It was of course Sinterclas that opened the fair together with Alice Conba, a wonderful Irish flydresser.
The EFFA was heavily involved at the fair with the guys from EFFA Netherlands organizing the casting demos and workshops. And we got two new instructors this weekend; Freddy van Oostenbrugge (NL) and Hartmut Zerrer. Congratulations!” T.R.
EFFA Weekend at Oostvoornse Meer
Drei neue Instruktoren in Hamm zertifiziert!
Basic and Master exams in Glavaticevo (BIH)

Candidates of 6 nations present |
In the course of the afternoon, while the didactic part of the exam ran, the candidates as well as the present other EFFA instructors gave free casting lessons to youngsters who were invited by EFFA to get the chance to cast with flycasting pros. The kids enjoyed the clinics and the instructors warmed up a bit by teaching them. After a long and cold examination day that lasted till dusk there was finally a lot of reason for joy. Three candidates were proud of having passed the toughest fly casting instructor exam and a forth candidate candidate could pass the first part of the test in which a high level of casting performance was required, nevertheless, must repeat the very demanding didactic part at one of the next exams. EFFA congratulates the new instructors and welcomes them in the EFFA instructor team.
The event was a great success and the next day some of the candidates and examiners fished together the Alpine River Rhine in marvellous autumn weather, before they finally started their trips back home.

Congratulations Waldo! At the Dutch Fly Fair EFFA exams as well as former FFF-Europe exams (not to be mixed up with the less demanding FFF exam) have got a long tradition. So the examiners could again welcome many candidates who tried to pass the EFFA flycasting instructor exam. At the end only one of them had a good reason to smile. The Dutch Waldo Kranenburg passed the test and and was friendly embraced by the very active Dutch EFFA instructor team. Congratulations Waldo! see more pictures The Dutch Fly Fair 2008 |

The first instructors from Spain The exams at the EFFA Flyfishing Meeting der EFFA in Ribnik were fully booked and the level of the candidates was very high. Despite of this fact some of them had to recognize that the exam is really not easy to master and is without any doubt the most demanding one on the market. Nevertheless after it was finished EFFA was proud to announce to have their first instructors in Spain. Both Spanish candidates could master the test and celebrated thereafter with the big crowd of visitors and their EFFA instructor collegues. Some of the candidates have already signed in for the next exam and allthough they did not pass they where very thankfull about the professional and kind treatment during the exam. |

He jumped and jumped and jumped At the certification in Vicenza(I) it was obvious for everyone how much work and training is necessary to become an EFFA instructor. After his last and successful attempt in the practical part of the exam Michele Malagugini from Italy was totaly exhausted and performed one dido after the other with tears in his eyes. Even his friends had problems not to cry when they saw the emotions that were set free. Later the Italian also passed the theoretical part. So he was finally handed over the instructor certificate and patch by the examiners Günter Feuerstein(l) and Valerio Santagostino(r) who gave him a warm welcome in the EFFA instructor team. |
