First EFFA instructor from France certified!

Thibaut Giband EFFA instructor
The examiners Hans, Günter and Göran together with Thibaut Giband

6 candidates showed up early in the morning in the Rheinauen in Hohenems on Oct. 29, 2011 to go for the EFFA instructor exam. They were well prepared but the exam is known to be difficult. The examiners Göran Andersson(SWE), Günter Feuerstein(AT), Hans Spinnler(CH) and Giacomo Catellani(IT) watched the candidates very carefully and checked their didactical and theoretical knowledge on the subject. There were only two candidates left after the practical casting part of the exam and another one failed in the didactics. At the end after having tested more or less the whole day one of them passed successfully. Thibaut Giband(FRA) was very happy to receive the instructor certificate and badge and thereby become the first EFFA instructor from France. Congratulations Thibaut! Read more about the event here

Four new instructors certified in Hohenems

EFFA exams Hohenems 2010
The new instructors T. Diener, G. Lenzi, A. Kundolf and A. Bußjäger with examiners

A nice day in good atmosphere with quite good amount of people showing up to brushup their fly casting abilities together with a good number of EFFA instructors at site, that is how the 2. Rheintaler Fliegenfischertag can be described in a few words. Besides the fly casting workshops and fly tying demo there were also exams taken there.

The six candidates were well prepared and the conditions at site were more than perfect for such an event. The Masters G. Catellani, W. Fabisch, G. Feuerstein, H. Spinnler and V. Santagostino could finally congratulate four new basic instructors for their positive exams. Armin Kundolf and Albert Bußjäger from Germany as well as Gianfranco Lenzi from Italy and Thomas Diener from Switzerland received their instructor certificates and smiled for the camera. The event will take place again next year at about the same time (Oct. 22, 2011).

First Double Hand Instructors certified in St. Petersburg/ Russia

EFFA Instructor Team Russia with the examiners
Feuerstein, Spinnler, Rutkis, Tyapkin, Olishannikov, Ermakov, Tyurin, Cernish, Kibko, Borovkov

Ten candidates, three of them for the first EFFA double hand exam, tried to pass the instructor certification test at the Fly Fishing Meeting in St. Petersburg. The exams were hold on two days as it would have been impossible to handle this amount of candidates on one day. So on Oct. 1, the double hand exams took place and the next day the basic exams were taken. The candidates were all well prepared and showed good results during the exams. However the EFFA tests are known to be difficult, so at the end there were "only four" who passed. Ivan Ermakov and Vladimir Tyurin passed the basic exam and Wasiliy Olishannikov and Dmitri Borovkov passed the double hand exam and became the first EFFA Certified Double Hand Instructors (LL). Dmitri from Tallinn is also our first instructor from Estonia. See below a picture of the Russian instructors who were present at the event and Dmitri together with the examiners G. Feuerstein, H. Spinnler and R. Rutkis. A short flashback of the event will follow as soon as the professional pictures from the St. Petersburg event will arrive.

Peter Henggeler mastered the Basic exam in Laimnau(DE)

A giant pool, a deep blue sky and no wind provided best conditions for the four candidates who tried to pass the exam in Laimnau, Germany. Despite the fact that the candidates were well prepared only one of them successfully passed the basic exam after several hours of testing. Peter Henggeler from Switzerland was the happy new instructor to be handed out the EFFA certificate and patch. He will perfectly fit into our great instructor team.

Richard Verbeek new EFFA Master Instructor!

New Master Richard Verbeek and his examiners
New Master Richard Verbeek and his examiners

Good and constant  training leads to the wanted results. This could be proved once again by Richard Verbeek. Richard is the first Master that could be successfully certified in 2010. He was examined in the Netherlands by Sepp Fuchs, Bas de Bruin and Jupp Verstraten. Richard is very happy to have passed this difficult certification. He is the forth master from The Netherlands so far.

The Dutch Fly Fair

Fly Fair 2010
J. Verstraten, F. v. Ostenbrugge, B. de Bruin, H. Zerrer, S. Fuchs

Once again the guys from the Netherland pulled it off. The Duch Flyfair was a great success thanks to the hard working staff and the new location at Drontermeerdijk. It was of course Sinterclas that opened the fair together with Alice Conba, a wonderful Irish flydresser.

The EFFA was heavily involved at the fair with the guys from EFFA Netherlands organizing the casting demos and workshops. And we got two new instructors this weekend; Freddy van Oostenbrugge (NL) and Hartmut Zerrer. Congratulations!”     T.R.

EFFA Weekend at Oostvoornse Meer

Well done Ferdy!

Ferdy-and-examinors
S. Fuchs, F. Geerdink, J. Verstraten, B. d. Bruin, R. v. Duijnhoven

The Dutch department of EFFA held a weekend at the famous Oostvoornse Meer on the 17th and 18th of October. Inside and in front of restaurant De Stormvogel there were demonstrations and workshops in fly casting and fly tying. Belly boats could be tried as well as new fly fishing equipment. Some 150 people visited and participated on the first day. On  Sunday an EFFA Basic casting instructor exam was held, first at recreational area de Bernisse, later at the Oostvoornse Meer, with only one man passing it. Ferdy Geerdink from Aalden performed the tests with ease and enthousiasm, he will be a valuable new member in the north east of Holland.

Drei neue Instruktoren in Hamm zertifiziert!

Basic and Master exams in Glavaticevo (BIH)

Memo did it!

Mensur "Memo" Jahjefendic from Bosnia was the only lucky one passing the basic exam at the Aqua-Fisch. This fair is a traditional examination place in the annual calendar of the EFFA year. Memo had to repeat the didactical part of the exam and mastered it this time without any problems. In the future he will probably be guiding and teaching fly fishing mainly in Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia.

EFFA Certification Weekend on October 25, 2008 in Hohenems (A)

Prüfung in Hohenems (A) 2008

Candidates of 6 nations present

from left to rechts:

Günter Feuerstein (examiner), Giaccomo Catellani (Assitenzprüfer), the new instructors   Massimo Strumia(I), Magnus Mammarström(SWE) and Alexander Kibko(RUS) and the examiners Wolfgang Fabisch and Valerio Santagostino

Candidates of six nations showed up at the EFFA certification weekend which took place at the area of the recreation centre "Rheinauen" in Hohenems (A), as it turned out, an absulute ideal location for such events. In spite of the chill weather the examiners tried to offer the candidates a pleasant exam atmosphere.

In the course of the afternoon, while the didactic part of the exam ran, the candidates as well as the present other EFFA instructors gave free casting lessons to youngsters who were invited by EFFA to get the chance to cast with flycasting pros. The kids enjoyed the clinics and the instructors warmed up a bit by teaching them. After a long and cold examination day that lasted till dusk there was finally a lot of reason for joy. Three candidates were proud of having passed the toughest fly casting instructor exam and a forth candidate candidate could pass the first part of the test in which a high level of casting performance was required, nevertheless, must repeat the very demanding didactic part at one of the next exams. EFFA congratulates the new instructors and welcomes them in the EFFA instructor team.

The event was a great success and the next day some of the candidates and examiners fished together the Alpine River Rhine in marvellous autumn weather, before they finally started their trips back home.

Basic- and Master exam at the EFFA-Germany Meeting in Hambachtal on Oct. 04, 2008

Zertifikatsübergabe an Erwin Dorrer

Hand over the certificate (from left to right):

Head of the examiner team and Master Instructor Jupp Verstraten (DE), the successful candidate and new Basic Instructor Erwin Dorrer (CH), the Master Instructors and examiners Dieter Weiler (DE) and Bas de Bruin (NL), and the president of the EFFA-Germany Armin Fröbel

We are pleased with Erwin Dorrer!

For the second time our country council EFFA-Germany has invited for their Fly Fishing Meeting. The nice location was the Holiday Resort Hambachtal in the heart of the Hunsrück. Again a Basic- and Master excam was announced and 8 candidates (6 Basic and 2 2 Master) took this high level challenge.

The organisers in place (Sepp Redel and Markus Schwarz) had especially installed a platform in the lake. In an inflatable dinghy the candidates were "shipped" to the casting platform by the "ferryman" under the applaus of the public. Thus a "style-genuine" atmosphere developed for the candidates as well as for the public.

Under the direction of the examiner team, consisting of the Master Instructors Jupp Verstraten (DE), Bas de Bruin (NL) and Dieter Weiler (DE) the candidates had to complete their exam casts. All of them were well prepaired, but some of them were simply to nervous.

In a gentle atmosphere and supported by the public several candidates nearly reached the aim, but finally two of them successfully completed the casting part.
Unfortunately of them failed in the theoretical part, but we are very sure he will do it in his next exam.

After the common evening buffet the president of the EFFA-Germany, Armin Fröbel could annouce the new Basic Instructor.

Our congratulations to Erwin Dorrer from Switzerland and a warm welcome in our team!

Basic exams at the Nordic Fishing & Hunting Show in Elverum (Nor) on August 09, 2008

Eleverum (Nor) 2008

Bas de Bruin, Wolfgang Fabisch, Joakim Ericsson SWE, Igor Tyapkin RUS, Mikhail Zenkov RUS, Alexander Chernysh RUS, Tore L. Rydgren NOR and examiner Sepp Fuchs

First Russian Instructors certified!

Not less than ten candidates attended the EFFA Basic flycasting instructor exams on 9 August in Elverum(Nor). The exam took place at the same location as last year. The Nordic Fishing and Hunting Fair next to the fishing and hunting museum who was also the organizer of the show was the perfect place to meet for Scandinavians. The examiners Sepp Fuchs, Bas de Bruin and Wolfgang Fabisch were the examiners team at site. It was very tough this year because the wether was terrible. The heavy rain was a bit of a handicap but the people from the North seem to be quite used to it. At the end the examiners could welcome five new EFFA instructors in our team: Tore L. Rydgren NOR, Joakim Ericsson SWE, Alexander Chernysh RUS, Igor Tyepkin RUS und Mikhail Zenkov RUS. Alexander, Igor and Mikhail were the first Russians ever who passed world's most difficult fly casting instructor exam, so they were more than happy about that and shared some Vodka with the new friends. We are very happy about all our new instructors and want to thank the Norwegians for their hospitality. We will be back

Basic exams at FlyFair in Werkendam (NL) on Mai 24, 2008

Fly Fair 2008

Jupp Verstraten, Waldo Kranenburg(new EFFA instructor), Bas de Bruin and Sepp Fuchs

Congratulations Waldo!

At the Dutch Fly Fair EFFA exams as well as former FFF-Europe exams (not to be mixed up with the less demanding FFF exam) have got a long tradition. So the examiners could again welcome many candidates who tried to pass the EFFA flycasting instructor exam. At the end only one of them had a good reason to smile. The Dutch Waldo Kranenburg passed the test and and was friendly embraced by the very active Dutch EFFA instructor team.  Congratulations Waldo!

Basic exam at the EFFA Fly Fishing Meeting in Bosnia on May 11, 2008

EFFA Meeting in Bosnien 2008

Not less than five EFFA Master Flycasting Instructors were present when the Spanish Manuel Iglesias(front row) and Roberto Caldeiro(back row) passed their exam. Sepp Fuchs(NL), Claudio Balassone(I), Wolfgang Fabisch(DE), Günter Feuerstein(A) and Valerio Santagostino(I) celebrated with them and enjoyed some tasty Spanish wine.

The first instructors from Spain

The exams at the EFFA Flyfishing Meeting der EFFA in Ribnik were fully booked and the level of the candidates was very high. Despite of this fact some of them had to recognize that the exam is really not easy to master and is without any doubt the most demanding one on the market. Nevertheless after it was finished EFFA was proud to announce to have their first instructors in Spain. Both Spanish candidates could master the test and celebrated thereafter with the big crowd of visitors and their EFFA instructor collegues.

Some of the candidates have already signed in for the next exam and allthough they did not pass they where very thankfull about the professional and kind treatment during the exam.

Eemhof 2008

Well done René!

On Thursday the 1st of May new exams for EFFA Basic Casting Instructor where held at  Troutfishery The Eemhof in Zeewolde in the centre of the Netherlands.

Three candidates did the exam for the first time: Leon Godijk, Ferdy Geerding and Hans de Jager. René van Heezik only had to repeat the instructional and theoretical part of the exam, the rest he passed successfully in Schimmert in 2007.

Jupp Verstraten, Bas de Bruin and Rudy van Duijnhoven where in charge of the exam, with the help of Richard Verbeek. The troutfishery, which attracks a lot of fly fishers, was normally open this day and several people took a closer look at what was going on.

After the casting range was set up, people could do some warming up casts and than the exam began at ten o'clock. The wind soon proved to be quite a problem. It swirled through the woods and park beside the casting range and made putting out a straight, long line far from easy. Eventually all three candidates failed one or more casts and decided to try again next year.

After lunch, kindly prepared by the people of the troutfishery, René passed the parts of the exam he had to perform again this time successfully; the difference with his first test was clearly noticable. In the presence of all René received his certificate and badge and several pictures were taken.

Im Beisein Aller, erhielt René sein Zertikat und das Badge und stelle sich den Fotografen

Well done, René

Basic exam in Vicenza (I) am on February 03, 2007

Vicenza 2007

He jumped and jumped and jumped

At the certification in Vicenza(I) it was obvious for everyone how much work and training is necessary to become an EFFA instructor. After his last and successful attempt in the practical part of the exam Michele Malagugini from Italy was totaly exhausted and performed one dido after the other with tears in his eyes. Even his friends had problems not to cry when they saw the emotions that were set free. Later the Italian also passed the theoretical part. So he was finally handed over the instructor certificate and patch by the examiners Günter Feuerstein(l) and Valerio Santagostino(r) who gave him a warm welcome in the EFFA instructor team.

Congratulations Michele!

After the weather desaster which made us cancel the annual meeting in Italy two candidates being on their way back home tried for the exam in Diepoldsau. The conditions were perfect. The exam was taken in the local outdoor swimming pool at the old part of the River Rhine.

At the end there was only one candidate laughing. Robert Burkhard from Switzerland successfully passed the difficult test and got the sought-after EFFA certificate and instructor patch handed out by the two Master Fly Casting Instructors and Board members Wolgang Fabisch(r) and Günter Feuerstein(l).

Well done Robert, congratulations!

Pride and happy faces in Slovenia

It was already the 3rd time that at the Slovenian Fly Fishing Show on May 21, a Basic Instructor certification was held.

In a nice scenery at the famous Unica river near Planina the Slowenian hosts have built up a casting pool of nearly 30 meters. Next to it the casting field was perfectly arranged for the distance and precision casting.

In a very nice and friendy atmosphere 4 candidates took up the challenge of the Basic Instructor exam.

The Master Instructors Uwe Rieder, Claudio Balassone und Valerio Santagostino convinced themselves of the candidates casting skills, the instructional and teaching skills. After a long day of exam the testing team could finally welcome 4 new members in our instructor team.

Our congratulations to Alberto Sangiorgio from Italy, Thorsten Strüben and Horst Rathgeber from Germany and to Urs Zulian from Switzerland!
